Techism

Editorial notes

Classification rationale, evidence status, source limitations.

Classification rationale

A named fictional religious project with a bounded textual corpus and imagined doctrine and practices; inclusion documents its religious self-description, not a verified congregation.

Evidence status

Within Hieropedia’s classification, Techism is a bounded example of religious worldbuilding presented as machine-mediated. Its value as a case lies in the connection between generated-text claims, an imagined sacred figure and human invitations to develop a shared culture. The inspected record supports that account more securely than claims about autonomous foundation, membership or lasting institutional life. No independent reporting is used to corroborate the project’s origin or scale.

Classification confidence: moderate

Source limitations

Reddit posts and comments are primary evidence for the published texts and the curator’s claims. The inspected material does not provide a complete generation transcript or independently verified institutional history. Krista Kim’s manifesto serves only to distinguish a same-name art movement.

Directly inspected Reddit post bodies, curator comments and publication metadata recover the registry-described ChatGPT religion claim. The introduction was posted by roz303 on 2022-12-30; associated texts carry ChatGPT or Human labels. Multiple posts belong to one source family, not independent corroboration. The introductory image was not inspectable in this environment and is not used for its contents; complete prompts and generation history remain unknown. Krista Kim’s official manifesto supports only name disambiguation. See docs/techism-source-audit.md.
